Canonization

process of Canonization

On November 24, 1990, Mons. Tonino Bello, Bishop of Molfetta, opened the process of Canonization of Don Ambrogio Grittani in the presence of Cardinal Pietro Palazzini and of the diocesan Tribunal, calling him "prophet of love".

After eight years, time necessary to gather the testimonies related to the life and virtues of Fr. Ambrogio, on 3 May 1998, the Bishop of Molfetta Mons. Donato Negro concluded the diocesan inquiry for the cause of canonization of the Servant of God. Mons. Giorgi, Archbishop of Palermo, during the Eucharistic celebration recalls with affection and emotion the figure of Don Ambrogio, his professor during high school years at the Regional Seminary of Molfetta, remembering him as a priest in love with the Eucharist. The Oblates are associated with the prayer of those who have known Fr. Ambrogio, so that their founder will soon reach the honours of the altars.

Prayer for Beatification

O Holy Trinity, we thank you
because you have inflamed with charity
for you and for the neighbour
the heart of your servant,
Fr. Ambrogio Grittani,
devout son of the Virgin of the Holy Rosary.
In his earthly existence
he was a model of evangelical life for priests
and father solicitous for the poor.
We beseech you to glorify him on earth,
to your praise and for the good of the Church,
Mother of Saints.
Listen to our benign petition
and grant us the grace we seek,
through the intercession of your faithful
Servant, Fr. Ambrose Grittani.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Glory be to the Father ...
Glory be to the Father ...
